Raphael Benero’s artwork primarily focuses on personal experiences that have connections with similar views, demographics, culture, class, memories and upbringings. These artworks have been in several galleries such as the 5&J Gallery, Artspace 111, 500x, Landmark Art Gallery and the Rubin Center. He has also actively participated in Las Artistas and local border art exhibitions. Multiple pieces of artworks have also been featured in public displays around the city of El Paso and in national shows.
Raphael Benero first began his career in Visual Fine Arts at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Tx. He then went on to graduate with a B.F.A in Studio Art from The University of Texas at El Paso. While attending the University of Texas at El Paso, he assisted as a teaching assistant and a project manager for the Metalsmithing Club. He received his M.F.A at New Mexico State University.
Raphael Benero has been producing work since 2012 and has previous experience in metalsmithing prior to production work. Several of these pieces have been exhibited for Society of North American Goldsmiths and for Art Avenue magazine.
